Peaches Tour: Day One
Venue: POSTBAHNHOF (an old postal warehouse/train station next to the main train station)
I landed last night around an hour late, and after a moment of "oh, how does this whole abroad thing work?", i clicked straight back into travel/tour mode and made my way to Alexanderplatz, where our trusty Tour Manager, Dave Burton was waiting for me. He was in a grand old mood as he'd indulged in currywurst & chips with mayonnaise, washed down with half a litre of beer not long before. Welcome to Germany! Welcome to Peaches! Had dinner with Dave & his friend Heinrich (I am so sorry if I got that wrong!) near the old marketplace, some cheap and tasty vietnamese food, washed down with some Cuba Libres at The Cinema Cafe, a cosy bar/cafe close by. The Dutch would have called it gezellig.
Onto the show day...up & at em and in the lobby by 9:00am. A walk to the other hotel and bus...load out from rehearsal space...load into venue. Spend the entire day counting and folding and recounting 25 boxes of merchandise! Too much? well, that's subjective....
But what a great first show! Having met all the crew at The Reading Festival, i wasn't tooooo nervous, but first impressions served me well, and the tour bus family are tops. Intro's and insights will come as the tour progresses. no secrets will be revealed...
So yep, killer show. Glad to see i haven't lost my touch. Sold a lot. Kept the thieves at bay. Snapped at the local crew when they tried to take my boxes away too early. And the shirt i predicted would be the biggest seller was.
Tomorrow: Travel Day to Poland.
Depart: 6:30am.
